Electronic wiring harnesses and cables are very common in our lives, and today the connector network mainly comes to talk to you about their outer packaging materials. Wiring harnesses and cables are available in various colors from the outside, and their main function is to provide insulation, protect internal wiring, prevent external wear, and pollution and damage caused by some bad environments. Generally, according to the color, material and size, the outer packaging material of the harness cable is also different, let's take a look at what types of materials are available below.
Heat Shrink Tubing: Heat Shrink Tubing wraps tightly around the wire to smooth rough surfaces, providing thermal and electrical insulation, adhesive backed tubing provides a strong seal to prevent moisture and chemicals from corroding harness assemblies, requires the use of heat guns, which increases production time and may also be difficult to apply to the entire seat belt.
Casing: Sleeves that can be extended or packaged, easy to install and highly flexible for quick and easy wire bundling, braided polyethylene sleeves are popular because they are durable and lightweight, maintaining complete flexibility in any direction, even at low temperatures, allowing cable assemblies and wire bundles to be bent repeatedly without damage.
Spiral Winding Tube: Spiral Winding Tube allows cables and electronic harnesses to enter and leave the outer packaging material at multiple points, and is also available in a variety of color options for easy identification, for example, orange is often used in high-voltage applications.
Split loom tube: Split loom tube is generally cut down from the side to facilitate insertion of cables and electronic harnesses, the cutout is closed after installation, no heat shrinking or dispensing ends, thus reducing production time, plastic tubes are usually made of polyamide, polyethylene or polypropylene, however, handling and not compressing wiring can be troublesome.
Tape: Pressure-sensitive tapes with single-sided coating of tapes are available in a variety of backing materials and pressure-sensitive adhesives, while PVC is the most commonly used tape material, but other materials can also be used, including cloth, felt, foam, and aluminum foil, in addition to tapes that minimize the flexibility of the wiring harness.
